Who? Why? What? How? When?
1. Who should use this Blog?
This Blog is for Brown Mackie College Cincinnati General Education instructors and other faculty to share ideas and resources that may be of help to each other and to their students. As your information resource center, the Brown Mackie College Cincinnati librarians have created this, and other online portals for your informational needs. Share your ideas, your tips, your finds.
2. What are the goals, purpose and policies for the Blog?
Let's talk, converse and share ideas. Good ones and ones that don't work so well too. What resources or web tools would you like to see for you and your students to use? How can the librarians and other instructors help you and your students locate information or design assignments that work? Any classroom related ideas, posts and questions are inbounds. As General Education Liaison I, Jon Scharf, will act as your moderator and conduit for the conversation.
3. Why Blogger? Why Blog?
It's free, it's fun and you have information you need and you have information you can share. Here we can create a searchable, changeable, archived conversation--a resource you can access and contribute too. Blogger.com is free to join, easy to use, searchable, linkable, available 24/7 and one of the most popular web platforms today. 4. How it works? Policies and Issues you need to consider.
This blog is intended for use by Brown Mackie College Cincinnati staff & faculty.
Content and comments should be professional and in keeping with the mission and vision of BMC Cincinnati. Remember to keep in mind student confidentiality when discussing case histories or examples.
All comments and content are subject to review and deletion if deemed inappropriate by General Education liason Jon Scharf. Content will also conform to all applicable Brown Mackie College College handbook code and other online policies set forth by EDMC as well. BMC Cincinnati head librarian, Melanie Moon will be the final arbitrator of any disputes about posts or policies.
Please comment often and consider subscribing to this blog via RSS feed. We will also send out reminders to participate to your faculty email, newsletters and other BMC Cincy communication vehicles. Think of it as a threaded discussion for you!
5. When will this Blog go 'live?'
Final approvals to begin the blog discussion rest with the Dean and campus President. It is hoped that this will occur in conjunction with the unveiling of the Brown Mackie Cincinnati Library website this Fall. The website, blogs and student wikis will provide an integrated platform for faculty, staff, students, and the librarians to discuss, share and provide feedback on issues related to courses. We hope to use these components to create a library 2.0 environment. Please pass on any suggests or comments to Head Librarian Melanie Moon and website administrator librarian, Dee McGuire.
6. Need training? More information? Getting the word out?
Librarian General Education Liaison, Jon Scharf, regularly attends department meetings. When our complete website platform becomes available in the Fall an agenda item will include blog and wiki training. You can contact any Librarian or your department chair for more information.
